Network Error almost every time I open the app (by theWBP on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 15:04:00)
Network Error almost every time I open the app
Love the app but needs a reply all button! (by Ruby811 on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 14:14:00)
I was trying to reply all to a string of emails with 2 other people and couldn't reply all. Please fix! Had to go to my Mac and do it there.
Great app (by Tailor17 on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 14:04:00)
Google... When will iOS get the new 5.0 version of gmail! I have been waiting!!!
It's great... When it works. (by DZ511 on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 13:33:00)
I love this app, all of the features of the full gmail web version, however it loses connectivity all the time and I'm stuck not being able to read my email.
My rating of Gmail (by Da Reporter! on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 13:21:00)
I think Gmail is over all a great app. It's kind of like the mail app though and they could add some of the features from gmail on the my MacBookAir.
Gmail is fire (by AndrePierreG on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 12:39:00)
Man I can't tell you enough how fire g mail is. I just feel like a g using it. G-Unit!
Google Email (by sincerelysenate on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 11:28:00)
This is a wonderful application, it has great tools for me access. I'm able to connect to those around me professionally, and do business with my online stores. I also love the "Mobile Signature", it's awesome. This application is very professional and accessable. Highly Recommend!
Great app (by pfovard on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 05:14:00)
Very easy to use. I prefer it to mail if using a gmail account. Does exactly what it should. New mail comes through almost instantly.
Yess (by Keyoncé on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 03:22:00)
Better than the original mail app that comes installed on the iPhone
Love it (by mina castang on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 03:21:00)
Set up very closely to your mailbox on your computer. I haven't used the chatting portion on this app. Not really sure if it is available to be honest, but the app is great for checking your Emails. I also noticed that my phone will buzz first before my computer does.
SO GLITCHY (by Foodlover20002 on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 01:14:00)
I got on my email after a while and I went through all of my emails and deleted all of my emails and my primary email box. But it's still set there was one email left. I went to every box and deleted my emails that I did not want and read all the other ones. But it still said there was one left. Also every time I looked in my important box and scroll to the very end to find an email I had saved the app would shut down. Not pleased. I have the newest update and also have the newest iPhone. Please fix these glitches.
Great App (by cotteygirl_13 on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 00:52:00)
I am a huge Google fan and love having GMail. I don't even use the mail app preloaded on my Apple devices I use Gmail for everything. I love the access to the drive and Google Docs as well.
Overly simplistic (by Player20 on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 00:40:00)
Limited display options make this a pain to use. Threaded conversations seem to be the default, and are often not the most desirable display.
Glitch (by Tina HR on Mon, 22 Dec 2014 00:28:00)
I've downloaded this app twice to my iPhone 6 Plus and there's a virus on it that makes it inoperable and causes the app to blink extremely fast when opened. Then my other apps cannot update at all. Wish it worked. It would have been a nice one to have.
Gmail (by Gail McLaughlin on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 22:10:00)
Great app easy to use and works well across devices.
Excellent app. (by Starbay1 on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 18:53:00)
Combines all features of the other email programs into one. Love it
Pitifully slow (by DontNeedPalindrome on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 18:46:00)
It's usually faster for me to get my laptop, sign in, open a browser, and check gmail that way than use this app. Loses connection to server often (the only app on my phone for which this is a problem). Reminds me of AOL.
Good...but not great yet. Could be so much better. (by LeewardF on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 18:04:00)
If you are very invested into Google services, then the Gmail app works very well. Still need some work on push notifications, and "frequent connection" lost errors seem to plague the app. As with almost every other Google app, they need to add iOS 8 support for extensibility/share sheet extensions.
Great but can't get rid of the "unread msg number" (by Musica4444 on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 17:19:00)
Great but can't get rid of the "91 unread" little red/white number over app. It drives me crazy! I mean: I don't want to delete those messages, but I have already been well informed they are there, I wish I could clear them all at once (without deleting) so it shows zero new messages till next time I get NEW UNREAD messages so then I'll know how many NEW unread messages I just got, eh? ;-) this way I can't tell if I got any NEW unread messages of its just the old ones ..Something so simple.. Am I missing something?
Wowzers (by 5thGene on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 16:07:00)
It's like google reads my mind. Great app. Better than native for iOS.
Attachments? (by Tuna Floyd on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 16:06:00)
I don't know how to attach a picture to this email program so easily it's not very straightforward with that G

love the functionality - works great
User friendly app (by Crespo86 on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 15:08:00)
More like web gmail style and user experience.
great app (by Lilrere14 on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 14:00:00)
it's very useful I use it every day
Bugs/etc. (by rstark17 on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 13:40:00)
Notifications in Notification Center do not clear when message is read. Have to clear them manually. Needs unified inbox.
National Security (by Forcedrectalfeeding on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 13:34:00)
This app is cool and I have no complaints about it. I just wish Google wouldn't share info with the NSA. Makes me uneasy.
Better than the mail app. (by T-nigguh on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 13:25:00)
Seriously so much better than apples mail app. Decent interface. Wish it had the lollipop feel like the other Google apps.
Enough with the stupid ads! (by Simone Allen on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 11:49:00)
I used to love retrieving my emails from the app, but lately I've noticed more ads popping up. At first, I tried opting out, and for a while that worked. Now it seems they're more rampant throughout the app, with all my accounts! FIX IT Google! If I opt out, that means I don't want to see ANY ads!
Problem for 2-3 weeks (by Florida 2012 on Sun, 21 Dec 2014 11:34:00)
Failed to obtain new mail on multiple occasions. Mail is available on native Apple mail app. Problem resolved after restarting the device

Been having gmail a great long time now and wouldnt change it for the world
Dors not allow zoominh (by Seg35 on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 22:47:00)
Gmail is always nice but why doesn't it allow zooming on the screen ?
Great UX! (by ashsrinivas on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 21:20:00)
Love it for accessing my multiple Gmail accounts. Great UX!
Good (by SkunkDizzle on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 20:35:00)
I don't think it's perfect, but it works well for me. I get my emails. The separate areas for social and advertising help keep my inbox de-cluttered.
Great but (by YasKub on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 15:37:00)
Wish it was more user friendly.
Pretty Good (by Millennial Gen on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 15:22:00)
How about a way to email to a group of contacts?
Gmail is awesome! (by Disciple45 on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 14:48:00)
I use it for my business and personal emails and it is just awesome.
Good app for Gmail (by nevadan61 on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 14:28:00)
This app does a good job of handling Gmail on my iPad. It's not perfect, but for the price, it's hard to beat. :)
Much Better! (by Boys'nana on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 12:41:00)
I gave it a bad review some time ago (years, I guess) but now I can't find anything to gripe about. It's certainly my go-to now. Had some iPad troubles and Gmail disappeared for a bit. So I tried Apple's Mail for a day, but couldn't wait until I could get my Gmail back! Steady, reliable, easy to use. It's something I don't have to think about much, and that's just fine!
Good (by John Asare on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 12:36:00)
It's nice. Just download and use it and see the beauty of it.
Good stuff (by Stevesolder on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 12:17:00)
Use it daily, like it always.
Email is easy (by Azgadil on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 12:14:00)
Gmail app offers more functionality and easier viewing of your email compared to the iPhone email delivered app. The app allows you to view email in a similar way you would from the web Mac or PC.
Excellent email app (by Hobbyshooter on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 08:32:00)
Google has created a very user-friendly mail app that is a pleasure to use. I also very much appreciate the double layer security.
Excellent Gmail interface (by CariuX-BR on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 08:03:00)
A perfect e-mail app. It seems that it is an iOS interface for the web based Gmail, not a fully native iOS app. Anyway, it works perfectly and efficiently.
Gmail - email from Google Review from 51th to 100th
It does what I want it too (by Ern1x on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 05:10:00)
It works most of the time but then just doesn't start up I have to restart my iPhone. I don't know if it's because of a update or just my phone.
Great use for multiple emails (by Mr Hilot on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 01:42:00)
This apps works great. It fits my lifestyle of having a couple emails that need to be check everyday. Works like a charm.

Beyond better than the default email app (by TheJamesDono on Sat, 20 Dec 2014 00:17:00)
The accuracy of push notifications and ease of looking at all replies and such make this the best email app available.
Loading issues (by Aaron Morlock on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 20:54:00)
Overall my favorite app for email. Much better than the one that comes preloaded. Although there are some issues with slow loading. Could be faster more reliable
Please fix it immediently!!!!!!! (by Xxtoxickuroxx on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 19:53:00)
There are issues in this app. Once i turn my apps off and my email makes the noise, I click on the app and it freezes and takes forever to load. It keeps saying my connection time ran out so i have to keep pressing retry over and over again. I hate it! Please fix it google because its irritating. I'm sick and tired of redownloading the app
No complaints (by chineset8kout on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 19:31:00)
I haven't had any problems with it
good Gmail app (by abmyL on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 19:00:00)
works just like the computer
Gmail app (by Varnyard on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 18:25:00)
Good and reliable app. No complaints or issues with accessing and viewing mail.
Love the new interface (by Kalvinsita on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 16:59:00)
Love the new interface. I wish I could add my own labels on the tabs and customize not only the color but the name as well.
Easy mode email app style (by Xonovik on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 16:06:00)
Google does it again. Makes it easy for me to access and read my email
Needs an update? (by Tubaqueen1 on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 15:19:00)
I just got the 6plus and I downloaded this app because I had it before on my 5. I think it may need an update to work on the 6plus because every time I get on it, it is terrible slow or won't even load my messages.
GMail (by Lovita IPhone on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 14:29:00)
A great app; but sometimes crashes and doesn't work the same for the IPad or the IPhone, more crashes in the first.
G mail (by Dono316 on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 14:22:00)
I like g mail it gets the job done but I want to know how to get rid of so much junk mail. After having a g mail account for a few years
Good (by Groundman on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 14:11:00)
Also I would live to have access to >contacts/calendar >be able to import my school exchange emails or other email accounts >'Open in' option for apps like iWork/MS office not just chrome/safari >swipe to delete not just archive >I love be able to see icons for certain labels inbox has rather than just color coding
Awesome (by Alex Pappas on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 14:01:00)
Easy to use. Exponentially better then built in email app.
Love it! (by sfogg123 on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 12:02:00)
This is a lovely app. It functions extremely well on the iPad -- much better than the Windows version! Way to go, Gmail!
💔😔I'm heart broken... (by Blaize360 on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 10:20:00)
Google is good but...I need more help I'm very forgetful about passwords so.....tell Google to 🔧 that!
Reliable (by Sea Canary on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 06:51:00)
Does exactly what it supposed to do. The only thing I wish it could do is format the text in terms of font size, italics, bold, and underline.
Great (by JacobH867 on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 06:35:00)
This is a great emailing system. This app is a great way to access your Gmail, I wish there were more features like the desktop counterpart but still a great app nonetheless. 4 out of 5 stars.
It's OK (by PabloFuz on Fri, 19 Dec 2014 00:29:00)
It is a good app, but it's flawed because it lacks the ability to control font size (i.e. The default font is too small!). Also, it would be great to be able to change the default ringtone. These are my gripes... If these two things change, then I will give it another go. For now I stick with the default iOS mail app.
Very impressive app (by Professor F on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 22:01:00)
I really enjoy this app. I was hesitant that it might not work as well as it did on my Droid but I have been pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend using it.
Good (by CH!Ts on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 21:24:00)
It's user friendly application
Clean & Swift (by Montsuteru on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 19:06:00)
Amazing coding! This app successfully made the leap to mobile, yet retained the strength and swiftness of the Google's desktop service. Well Done & Thank You, Google Team!!

When it sends, it sends (by Mondonation on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 17:59:00)
All I care about with mobile email - did it send? With gmail, it freggin sends! :)
Love using it but (by Photosam11 on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 17:31:00)
The one thing that's been annoying is that after viewing an email in my inbox it won't let me swipe to my next email. Not sure if it's just my phone or a bug. Otherwise it works great and I love the interface.
Best cloud email ever (by sergeychernyshev on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 17:08:00)
Gmail is simply the best cloud-based mail app ever, available for all platforms and single place of all your communications!
Great email app (by drfrankK on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 16:15:00)
It's a great email app and works very similar to the desktop version. I wish some of the third party plugins like boomerang worked in it but otherwise my go to email app.
Best email app!! 😁☺️ (by Nicole6809 on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 14:46:00)
Love this app! It works great with my iPhone 6. Doesn't freeze, notifies me the second I receive an email! I don't have any problem with this app! I truly recommend it!

One of best Google App (by The nick name is taken on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 09:55:00)
Just one bug... When I saved draft and attachment on my computer. Then open the draft and sent it, the attachments are missing. Otherwise, great app :)
Terrible at handling attachments (by Ngchi on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 08:59:00)
I hate that I cannot open/save attachments in anything other than via the Internet browsers. Otherwise it is a pretty good app

This app is really good, it helps a lot with the mail managenement. I truly recomend it
Fix this (by Fh072304 on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 06:30:00)
It wouldn't let me add one of my accounts (which I have 2). And I got frustrated. I think yall should fix this.
World wide (by Jerrycanery on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 04:54:00)

As much as I'd like to use Gmail, The font size is barely readable.
Google is best provider of software now and forever. Period (by KC_Kenwood on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 00:51:00)
Apple is great at making hardware. Google is great at making software. I will always have an iPhone, and I will always move all of apples proprietary apps into my 'not popular' folder and will replace with Google and 3rd party apps. Nuff said
Pretty good, but not great. (by Mbp124 on Thu, 18 Dec 2014 00:43:00)
Works fine, wish it had a few more features: 1. Select All messages 2. empty spam button.

Gmail - email from Google Review from 101th to 150th
Don't like it (by surri28 on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 14:19:00)
Don't like it because it's very clunky. After reading mails it won't be marked as read. Controls not consistent with other apps. For example delete mail here vs iPhone mail. Why?
Easy to use app (by N1Alireza on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 14:15:00)
Easy and compelete like openning your mail via pc.
Slow! (by Thomas508 on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 13:16:00)
Need a way to stop the modification to fit the screen, this cause the emails to open way too slow! Bad update!
Perfect (by EvanD1993 on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 13:04:00)
Gmail is not be of the greater email apps out there. Simple, easy, and does everything you would need it to do. Happy with the Google apps on iOS devices.
Running Slow has bugs (by Ventura21 on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 12:54:00)
Please update its slow when refreshing or opening emails

Much much better than apple's default mail app
Notifications are horribly unreliable (by moosevan on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 11:52:00)
They work, then they don't. Resetting them to work again... Nothing reliably reinstated notifications.

Gmail is Awesome (by annemarieruffing78 on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 10:08:00)
I like Gmail Because I get to check my emails For School😃
Great but slow to load (by Nodoxnss on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 05:43:00)
Sometimes this app takes an unreasonable amount of time to load. There is trouble loading when other apps direct you to and from google mail. This is causing me to is apple mail instead bc it's quicker to load. I have a brand new iPhone 6. Gmail is buggy.
Phishing report option missing! (by islander flavor on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 04:38:00)
How can it be missing option to report phishing?!
Great but needs updates (by Paul Benario on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 04:33:00)
Great app but my only suggestion would be to allow other apps to send to it (now that iOS8 allows this) so I can find something on my phone (like a picture) and send it to the app to email to someone without initiating that from the gmail app.
Three Thoughts (by Rusty3r on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 03:50:00)
1. While in the "Move to Folder" menu, I am unable to quickly Search through my Folders to quickly find the correct folder. 2. I have to choose between marking my emails with A. Labels or B. Folders. Now I have a mess of both on my hands. 3. I do not see any way to merge my multiple, existing gMail accounts.
Good but where's my calendar??? (by katelovesyou123 on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 03:10:00)
I started using the Gmail app instead of the preinstalled Apple Mail app for my new job. It's great at pushing emails out to me and notifying me, I really love that. But I can't see my calendar unless I open safari and go to gmail. What a drainer!!! I use the calendar like crazy for meetings and calls with my colleagues and I wish I could access it through the gmail app. :( sad day.
Just found another idiot programmer from Google (by Uzevla1 on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 02:36:00)
Opens old, First, email in a conversation instead of the last one, the new one I want to read
The Gmail app is awesome! (by RichardW1957 on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 01:42:00)
It's great to be able to open the app and have my email at my fingertips. I used Outlook on my computer but it flaked out and Microsoft support is almost non-existent. Glad I can fall back in this app!!
Great app (by Happy mailer on Thu, 11 Dec 2014 00:01:00)
No issues to report... Stable app
Love love (by Bill Barbosa on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 23:06:00)
Absolutely love the app thanks
Recent update (by Boooppy on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 23:00:00)
I don't know what happened but now my favorite email app is now hard to navigate. They made a lot of really dumb changes. I can't delete an open email?! Why?! All my emails open in a hard to view format. Difficult to switch back to inbox. Very annoying!!!! I want it back to the way it was. Clear, visually pleasing, easy to navigate. Easy to rapidly go through my emails and discard, reply, forward, file. I'm so irritated with the changes!!
Functions as expected (by Kaelysia Woods on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 22:35:00)
I don't have another app to compare this Gmail app to, but it does everything I expect. I especially appreciate being able to send attachments.

The best email app...period!
Ok, so confusing! (by UrFriend4ever on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 19:56:00)
It's about time they modify Gmail where it is more user-friendly and organized. More like a file cabinet. On an iPhone mail you can only add up to so many accounts and then your email freezes. Even if you take off the extra email account, it still causes freezing problems with getting your mail. There are many user-friendly free email programs that are a lot more organized out there now. Gmail is just the same old thing. And you can't get your mail from Hotmail or Yahoo accounts. They need to somehow merge this problem. I've used it for 10 years and I'm not that impressed. So I can only give it three stars.
Love it. (by Schuyler Warren on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 19:21:00)
This is the most used app on my phone by far. The only change I'd make is being able to download attachments. It'd be nice to have access without getting on a computer.
Love it. One change. (by Jasso16 on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 18:51:00)
The app works great. I would only suggest adding the ability to delete an email from the lock screen.
Conversation view (by melanieraerae on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 18:48:00)
The app would be 5 stars if the ability to turn off conversation view was available. Conversation view makes this app almost impossible to use for business, especially when the subject lines of emails are identical but are in regards to different subjects.
Excellent app (by Jimbojet8000 on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 16:44:00)
Simple, with all necessary abilities, this is the best email application out there, even rivaling Outlook.

Not bad, hate the nesting (by James C Smith on Wed, 10 Dec 2014 12:45:00)
Gmail is okay, the app has several nice features but I just can't stand the forced nesting of email conversations. While I can change it on their pc app, have not yet found a way to do it on the iPad app. Once I can this is a 5, till it's a 3, losing 2 points due to the major annoyance factor.

Dear Google machine who is parsing and scoring this review to automatically decide whether to bother a human to read this or not. Please work on making this very good app awesome rather than toying with "Google Inbox" which is promising but distracting.

Want to AirPrint attachments from the app (by Blastrx on Tue, 09 Dec 2014 02:07:00)
When I open an attachment in an email, the only options I have are to "open in Safari", "open in Chrome", or "copy link". Why not include a "Print..." option? When I select to open in either browser it has to open the mobile version of gmail (which I might be logged into a different account), so in order to print from my phone, I have to copy the link, open a browser, paste and go to it, and then select to print. Make it easier.

I was surpised by Google with the G mail, why? Because at the point I started to use G mail only you can get an account only by a friend to refer you an account, because when Google initiated this service only you can get it by an invitation, and now u can get so easily just to sign in, and now u can combine mail and schedules, and calendar. I hope works for most of the people as good as it works for me.

Almost perfect (by Black1304 on Sun, 07 Dec 2014 21:13:00)
I love this app. The only improvement I could ask for is a mass trash delete, but that's because I'm anal and hate things in my trash folder once I'm done with them. Otherwise, perfect. Never any problems.

Snowman (by RedWingFighter on Sun, 07 Dec 2014 02:25:00)
Frustrating to separate conversation view in order to reply to an e-mail series. Also, it is completely unacceptable to not be able to sort by sender in the inbox. It is very difficult to manage larger volumes of e-mail and place in folders.
Good (by TC near da River on Sun, 07 Dec 2014 01:09:00)
It's good for mobile, but not great. There are many times that I read from mobile but take action when I have the full featured of desktop chrome accessing gmail.

Asks to select account every time I open the app (by Vishesh Joshi on Sat, 06 Dec 2014 22:10:00)
I get a network connection error with "Retry" and "Cancel" options. Once I select retry I have to select my gmail account in which there is only one email account. I have to do this 9 out of 10 times I open the app
Could improve a bit (by mercyelvira42 on Sat, 06 Dec 2014 21:31:00)
I enjoy using this app rather than using the default email app that comes with the iPhone. But I wish I could add and delete labels straight from the app. And it would be very convenient if I could "select all" when I want to delete trash and other email from labels. To do this, I have to go online and use the select all feature. I have also noticed that emails are updated quicker in the default email app. Not sure if it's my connection or if the gmail app is just slow.

Great App (by Mar17028 on Sat, 06 Dec 2014 19:40:00)
Quite simply, it just works. I find it flawless. Came over from Yahoo mail which was suffering security issues and lots of spam. Won't go back. Gmails app is a very easy interface to work with.
One positive (by kiai on Sat, 06 Dec 2014 18:05:00)
The only thing I like about this app better than Apple's mail app is that the notification shows the number of unread priority emails. Don't like that I can't choose a browser to automatically open from links. Don't like that I can't dial a number or text from the body of an email. It's missing cool features in the desktop version that seem would be easy to add.

OK. But with some pain (by ssample on Fri, 05 Dec 2014 16:39:00)
I use it continuously, but I have to use my Mac to do group contacts listings. This and deleting restrictions to one at a time makes this app useless in my needs. I wish I could use the browser to do Gmail so I'd have these uses, but the browser insists on the app. With these annoying restrictions. The rest of the operations work smoothly.

No Alert For Mail (by lou-here on Fri, 05 Dec 2014 09:29:00)
I'm finding that occasionally, the app won't notify me when I have new mail, even though I have it checked for it to notify me whenever I get new mail in my primary inbox. Is anyone else having a problem with this? :( Otherwise, it's a wonderful app! It's just I get a lot of time-sensitive emails from teachers and friends, and I can't always remember to check on my own.

After 2 years of use, I've got to give it up now (by Cgumprecht on Thu, 04 Dec 2014 23:19:00)
Let me start by saying that this app has been a life-saver for the last 2+ years for me. My company uses Google Apps for our hosted email and never had an issue. For the last month my notifications on my Apps account just stopped working randomly. Continues to work just fine on my personal gmail account. Found a workaround when it happens. Now the workaround stopped working too. I get about 400-600 emails a day for work so losing notifications during the day is a real kick in the pants. Kept hoping for a fix but nothing. So I've switched to another mail client where the functionality isn't as smooth, but the notifications are consistent. Such a bummer cause I REALLY want to keep using this. Maybe I'll give it a shot again in a few months. Side note: if you're using it just for your personal email account, I can't recommend this app enough.

Update 12/4/2014 not getting push notifications (by lovingj on Thu, 04 Dec 2014 21:24:00)
Update 12/4/2014: Here is how to restore push notifications. Resetting the Push Notifications Permissions Alert on iOS Resetting the Push Notifications Permissions Alert on iOS The first time a push-enabled app registers for push notifications, iOS asks the user if they wish to receive notifications for that app. Once the user has responded to this alert it is not presented again unless the device is restored or the app has been uninstalled for at least a day. If you want to simulate a first-time run of your app, you can leave the app uninstalled for a day. You can achieve the latter without actually waiting a day by following these steps: Delete your app from the device. Turn the device off completely and turn it back on. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and set the date ahead a day or more. Turn the device off completely again and turn it back on. Reinstall App and open to get push notification alert. Set date and time back. Update 12/2/2014: Great app but I cannot receive push notifications on my gmail.com account. My google apps account get push notifications just fine. Please fix!!!! Old review: Add text reflow to the app like the native ios mail app. Majority of messages are too hard see without scrolling and zooming. Make this more like sparrow or ios mail. This app is killing my eyes. There are no notifications for other mail accounts while using the app. Requires you to go to the home screen to see badge for notification. Please fix, notify for all accounts while in the app (I think google voice has a similar problem). Please add an aggregated inbox to display messages from all accounts. Ditch the HTML and put sparrow to use when displaying messages. Overall the app is getting better but has a ways to go.

My preferred mail app, with a few caveats (by DFLiddle on Thu, 04 Dec 2014 12:32:00)
Some time ago, I stopped using the iOS Mail app, chiefly because the Gmail app makes it easier to switch between accounts. I'm quite happy, but there are two things I still like better about iOS Mail or Gmail in the browser: 1. I can move messages between accounts in Mail. 2. There are more formatting options available in the browser version of Gmail.

I am exciting to say that implementing new skills have been easy for me to learn and to become proficient in using GMAIL. I read the new instructions, practice examples and start using, sending messages and receiving messages with speed and accuracy.

Not as many features as in the browser version (by brownrf17 on Wed, 03 Dec 2014 11:17:00)
A lot of key features are missing. The gmail app isn't well integrated. It wants to keep controlling everything instead of letting you go to the browser of your choice.

This app is doing it for me. (by News Nose on Wed, 03 Dec 2014 00:57:00)
I set up 2-factor authentication for Gmail and decided the easiest way to set that up on my phone was through Google's email app. So many benefits have presented themselves since then. Glad I switched.
There is no other way to go! (by Mr. Rosas on Wed, 03 Dec 2014 00:57:00)
Pretty much gmail invented email! The app works flawless even better than Mail app on iPhone. Great job Google!
Please fix capitalization in email template (by Drbook on Wed, 03 Dec 2014 00:50:00)
A great app but very frustrating when the first letter of an email is no longer capitalized by default (after first filling in the addressee and subject lines). Fix this and all will be well. Thank you.
One convenient app (by denobug on Wed, 03 Dec 2014 00:44:00)
This is a well made app with the same layout as the Web interface. It is very convenient to use. Search function is superb.
Should be a 5-star app, but it’s not (by Larry.McJunkin on Wed, 03 Dec 2014 00:24:00)
For the love of all things Google, PLEASE fix this app so that people can read the absolutely TINY fonts it uses. Not all of us are nearsighted or 20 years old with perfect eyes. The default mail app is so easy to read, but it just doesn’t work all that great with Gmail.
Wish can chat (by Dioudodo on Wed, 03 Dec 2014 00:22:00)
Gmail should add chat option. It would be great.
Update 12/2/2014 (by lovingj on Tue, 02 Dec 2014 23:19:00)
Update: Great app but I cannot receive push notifications on my gmail.com account.

An App I Cannot Live Without (by mchicote718 on Tue, 02 Dec 2014 14:57:00)
Title says it all. Access through Gmail without an app is a bit of a pain, but with this app, GMail access is seamlessly awesome. Also I use this app to hold my Gmail emails separate from my iCloud email, which creates an organized access of my emails, meaning there is less clutter overall. I highly recommend this app!

Great utility, keeps crashing. (by .pc on Tue, 02 Dec 2014 11:51:00)
One of the best apps available when it works. It consistently crashes when trying to access certain folders. Never fails. Kinda hard to be productive when you can't access certain messages.
Ok When it works (by Cheryl_marie on Tue, 02 Dec 2014 10:12:00)
Gmail is ok when it actually works, though I prefer using the desktop version because there isn't very much functionality with the app. The calendar app is even worse. I won't use it because it doesn't do a quarter of what it can on the computer. Overall not very useful. Going to reconsider making this my primary email account.

Unintuitive (by Dudley Doggins on Mon, 01 Dec 2014 14:40:00)
After using the Gmail app on and off for years it's still difficult to quickly find a message or even reach the most relevant part of a thread. The service itself is good like just about everything from Google but this app is a needless re-invention of the email client experience that's just cumbersome instead of refined.

Awesome app! (by Dfballa on Mon, 01 Dec 2014 02:41:00)
The Gmail app for iPhone is definitely useful for everyday use! Would recommend to anyone that has gmail. An app could always be improved so that's why I didn't give it 5 stars. Also. Little buggy on UI.
I'm hooked (by Wywy_Williams on Mon, 01 Dec 2014 02:15:00)
This app is essential to my mobile life. It works very well. Functions are simple which is most important.
Better than Apple Mail, but that's not saying much (by Oviddawen on Mon, 01 Dec 2014 01:37:00)
Needs absolute feature parity with the web version. If my PowerPC Mac could do it, there's no reason an ios 7-capable device shouldn't have the same capability.

Add some simple security (by Fynance_999 on Sun, 30 Nov 2014 20:10:00)
I really like this app but wish there was a way to have it require a PIN or Touch ID when I start the app. Right now, the only way to secure my inbox is to sign out of my account, but then I don't get any notifications of new email. This seems pretty obvious.
Good (by faceness007 on Sun, 30 Nov 2014 19:58:00)
Handles labels and stuff nicely, but chokes if you have over about 30 messages in your inbox.
Worst app ever used (by Peichuan Yin on Sun, 30 Nov 2014 19:11:00)
Slow react and retarded interact interface. Can't update its message status by itself. Bad app, better use mail by Apple
It's gmail... (by Lilsnoelke on Sun, 30 Nov 2014 18:47:00)
It is what it is. Gmail. I honestly don't know what I'd do without it!
It's ok (by Forced Gmail User on Sun, 30 Nov 2014 18:46:00)
Only got gmail because of my phone. I've never liked that messages can't be sorted by sender, subject, or date. The search function stinks; it always returns unrelated messages. And it's difficult creating new inboxes and rules instead of labels. Labels don't help filter items you don't want to see. Too easy to lose sight of things.
Excellent product! (by darobmeister on Sun, 30 Nov 2014 17:50:00)
Update 20141129 - searching is much better these days. Pretty much works all the time. Rare glitches, but could be iOS or app. Keep the updates coming! Only thing that seems to glitch occasionally is searching for emails.
Great app! (by Disappointed OSUer on Sun, 30 Nov 2014 17:36:00)
The thing that I like best about this app is that instead of opening to the default apps that Apple has, it gives you the option to open in the other apps such as Google maps, Google chrome etc.

This is getting ridiculous. (by 00134829chelseagirl on Sun, 30 Nov 2014 01:13:00)
The app is fantastic when it works, no doubt about it. But for the past month, every time I open it, it just loads and loads and never gets anywhere. It's getting really frustrating to no longer have gmail available on my phone. Not an app I'll recommend if it keeps being so buggy.
Great but not without error (by Jonathan Levi on Sat, 29 Nov 2014 23:18:00)
I would definitely recommend this app. I found one thing that could be smoother and that is the swipe archive button. The apple app is smooth and easy the use. This app is not smooth and the button is small and i often miss.

I love it 👌👍🙌
Buggy (by Docsplice on Sat, 29 Nov 2014 18:45:00)
The current version of the app has an error where the list of emails can't be seen and the app has to be restarted to function correctly. It happens too often to leave a positive review for this app.
I'm torn: App okay. Still find myself using Web instead for the following reason: (by Julian Van Price on Sat, 29 Nov 2014 17:02:00)
I like the app it's okay but needs improvement or it could be just me because my mail is a mess anyways before the labels. The biggest dislike is when I click a link to website in the app it's frames it in the gmail app instead of launching in the safari browser. It becomes hard to see the display. If I'm clicking to visit a website it's typical means I want to see the full article and display.

Reporting a crash (by whitey1601 on Sat, 29 Nov 2014 12:59:00)
Upon fully loading a long email, scrolling too fast to the bottom of the page crashes the app.
Gmail is tops! (by hooverlaw on Sat, 29 Nov 2014 11:23:00)
Gmail is plainly better than any other email app I've tried and I've tried a lot of apps for what is perhaps the primary function of any mobile or desktop connected device. For example, the dictation to text function is far superior in Gmail (as it is in any of Google's apps) compared to Siri or to any of the standalone dictation apps.
Works OK (by MikeDS1978 on Sat, 29 Nov 2014 10:54:00)
It's very slow to load the app and emails. I like the push notifications. I may switch back to native iOS app because this one is just so slow

Forcing me to do things google's way (by NOT THIS ONE OMG on Sat, 29 Nov 2014 03:25:00)
Broken. Defaults to either chrome or nothing. Is it so hard to open Safari from gmail? It seems like Google wants to analyze my data, share my data, and prevent me from using non-Google apps. BS.

Switched to Gmail App Recently (by Thomas Turner on Fri, 28 Nov 2014 20:15:00)

I was hoping to have complete access to all the functions of gmail. All it allows is reading and sending email which the native iPad app does just as well. I wanted to be able to manage labels and filters from my iPad. Deleted 5 minutes after install.

The title says it all. I have nothing bad to say about the Gmail app, except that you can't star emails in the app like you can on the actual website. Besides that everything works perfectly fine. Easy to navigate, easy to send emails, easy to view emails, etc. Highly recommended!

Bad update. (by Lance J. on Fri, 28 Nov 2014 14:30:00)
Google screwed up on this one. These days Google removes user flexibility - either you do it Google's way or they treat you like Garbage. The new version tries to link my identities together to accounts I no longer use for email. This is the exact opposite of what I want to do. Installing this also screwed up my accounts within Google maps and Google Drive app. What happened to that good old Google simplicity? I recommend you hold off on upgrade until Google fixes this serious account management garbage. Otherwise you may find yourself with problems managing your own stuff just so Google can track your online actions. Uncool.

I really like the UI and overall experience; it is quite handy managing my email on my mobile device using this app. I wish it would intuit better my in mail links. For example, rather than going to the web browser for a Facebook or LinkedIn link, I'd love it if it went to the app itself.

Most notably it keeps telling me I have an unread message when I don't. I couldn't get it to show me this mysterious unread message and it was driving me crazy, so I had to turn off the badge app icon. But I can tell inside the app that it still thinks I have an unread message.

Could Be Great, One Minor Tweak (by JillyBean42 on Thu, 27 Nov 2014 11:23:00)
I love the Gmail app. Using the native mail app doesn’t actually delete emails from Gmails server, so now my Gmail account is flooded with emails I thought I deleted. Since installing the Gmail app, I’m no longer having that problem. One minor improvement needs to be made so that you can attach multiple pictures at once instead of attaching each individually.
Meh (by photochica26 on Thu, 27 Nov 2014 11:06:00)
It's ok but...I've had times where I get notifications for an old email when a new one comes in and deleting the old one doesn't help. Also lately every single time i click on my promotions tab i have an ad at the top that looks like an email. I've accidentally clicked it a couple of times. I deleted this app and went with inbox by gmail instead.

I have had gmail from the beginning and since I started using it it's the only one I have used. It's easy to use and powerful at the same time. If you've never used it, just get it.
Suddenly crashing (by Socxermim on Thu, 27 Nov 2014 02:52:00)
I don't know what happened lately, but recently my gmail takes forever to load and now it has started crashing when loading any email in a thread with more than 10 emails on it, or an email longer than 25 words. Frustrated.
Lot nicer than Mac Mail (by Cpufun on Thu, 27 Nov 2014 02:33:00)
This app is much easier to navigate than the default app on ipad.
Putting Emails In the 'Trash'/Folders (by Hollywoodmxgrl on Thu, 27 Nov 2014 02:24:00)
For the most part the Gmail app I like. The only complaint I have is the lack of ease in putting emails in folders or throwing an email away into the trash. Comparing to the Yahoo Mail app all you have to do is push the trash button and the email goes in the garbage where Gmail's app makes you go through more steps to throw away any email. A 'one push' garbage can icon like yahoo has would be an awesome improvement.
Perfect (by Can't give 2.5 so I gave 2 on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 23:30:00)
It's perfect. I prefer it over Gmail's inbox, and over Apple for handling my gmail account.
Best email app (by The swag demon on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 22:34:00)
This app is my go to app for all my email needs. I love that Google tied everything together and made it easy to get to in one place. Great job!!
Gets the job done (by Wezzy=beast on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 21:53:00)
Everything works just fine on the app. Wish they had a select all option for checking boxes to delete mail.
Best gmail client (by 43ten on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 21:10:00)
Supports true push email unlike the native Mail app. If you have gmail, use this.
Not dependable (by Silvereagle117 on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 19:46:00)
The app is good in every aspect, as long as it decides to push your notifications. Otherwise you won't be notified of new emails, you must manual check for them.
Umm help (by Idk wut this is on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 19:42:00)
I need help. When it says in the beging when u open it to use which accounts but always after i click my google account whinch has an outlook email and not phone verified (could be problems) it says something went wrong and to do it again. I do it over and over but it doesnt work
Good app (by Cabbie2003 on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 18:17:00)
Can't go wrong with this app. Just make sure everything is up-to-date
Awesome! (by Blade7cr on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 17:45:00)
I have a couple account because of school, work, and personal life and this app makes it easy to switch between them. You can save the account then choose to turn it on or off. Saved me time and energy
Better than the native email app for gmail (by Master Oden on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 17:45:00)
The Gmail app is better than the native iPhone email app for gmail email accounts. What makes it better is the categories, if you're used to that feature. The native app does support this so all new emails show as an email badge instead filtering out social and promotion emails.
Great app (by Munanabanana on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 17:36:00)
If you use gmail and have a smartphone, then you should be using this app. Convenient, fast, efficient. Why don't you have this yet? ^^
Love gmail (by Physcopeach on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 15:05:00)
I absolute love the gmail app!! It keeps me up to the minute with all I need. Never any problems with the gmail app, have it on all my stuff
Decent App. Surprises me. (by c130jack on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 13:49:00)
I am not much of a Google fan, but Gmail has always impressed me, especially this app. It has never crashed on me and has been one of the most user friendly apps. The Mail app on iOS 7 and above have always been flaky with Gmail for me, so if you are having problems with the Mail app then this app is the way to go.
Always Improving (by Preston L Howard on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 12:36:00)
The more I integrate my email and other Google capabilities the more useful Gmail (and Google in general) is becoming. I am skeptical about how much information G tries to get and if G makes t easier to protect my privacy then I'll be perfectly happy. Thank you Google.

Slow and dreadful. We need push for native mail again (by RenierP on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 07:18:00)
Rather stop spending money developing this app and spend that money on push support for native mail app

Notifications (by KitCat0530 on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 03:11:00)
I haven't had any problems until recently. I always have a notification saying that I have an email, but I don't. I have deleted every single email and it's still there. I've had to delete the app to keep my sanity.
Great interface (by beemshake on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 03:07:00)

Gmail (by BruceD on Wed, 26 Nov 2014 01:20:00)
Works as well as any thing else that I have tried.
Missing functionality (by tster17 on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 23:47:00)
The main issue for me is that Gmail does not show up as a Sharing option. So for example, I cannot attach a Dropbox document to email. Maybe this is some IOS restriction, but in any case it makes the app crippled and it looks like I will need to use Apple's mail client instead.
Perfect (by KevinNigga on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 23:21:00)
very helpful. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best email app (by Innomini on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 23:11:00)
Google outperforms many other services and the features available with the Gmail app for iPhone prove their dedication to providing the best products for consumers. The interface is very user-friendly, email shortcuts are built into the application, and past emails are available to read any time. These are expectations for all email services, therefore Gmail also provides an easy route to switch between multiple email accounts, factoring in that many people have emails for business and personal use. Links included in emails are also opened with s built-in browser, making a stronger connection for keeping everything in the same context rather than losing data in cyberspace as the website links are transferred around to different services. Finally, Gmail categorizes spam into separate sections so that if you want to read promotions or social network updates, you have the option but Gmail keeps them separate from your personal email. That is why I have given the Gmail app a five out of five rating.
Very efficient (by Yo me i on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 22:58:00)
I love the Gmail app. Very neat, efficient and easy to use. Very clean and modern. Nothing like stupid, outdated, redundant, complicated Hotmail...

Very Small Font Size (by #NY on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 19:25:00)
Tiny font size. No adjustment settings for this. Already change system font largest but has no impact onto Gmail app iOS.

Need swiping! Now PDFs don't open for me (by Utah climber on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 14:07:00)
Great for email, but please give us swipe capability. And I'm not sure if I'm the only one having this problem but for some reason PDF attachment will not open. I just get a white blank screen. I have reinstalled and tried new PDF apps but haven't been able to fix the problem. I guess I will have to go back to iOS native app
Most Passable, as 4 Yorkshireman said (by Woesong on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 13:58:00)
I'm partial to Apple, but we have tried some alternative devices, and Gmail is the only one I'm using now. I don't require a lot from an email client, but I do like dependable features, and Gmail has them. I especially like two-step authentication. I was advised recently someone from St Petersburg had been stopped by Google from logging into my account, so the security step was a natural. It's relatively simple through Gmail, with a helpful video, and I heartily recommend it. Much more useful than the various swipe editing tricks I see elsewhere. One small reproof: you must be in landscape before loading a message or you're locked into portrait margins. With all the retro sites that still send with desktop in mind, it becomes annoying. I for one will be much better served when handheld is assumed.
Best email app there is! (by Flickity flash on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 13:31:00)
I use this app on all my devices and depend on it every day. Every update only makes it better and for the most part you can always depend on it. Then of course there is the collaboration. That is usually the best
Imformative (by Indio360 on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 08:49:00)
Gmail is a great app along with all the other Google apps. I got all my photos and videos from my other phone due to the fact that I used this new app called the Google drive. I had stored all my things in there on my galaxy and now I was able to retrieve them on my iPhone 6 which its a beautiful thing so,I recommend this app to all my friends and family,it's great.
Very convenient (by adrii_360 on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 05:57:00)
I love this app because it's easy and simple to use.
I just crashes and is really slow (by May tarus on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 04:19:00)
This app just crashes and don't sync the mails and is really slow at updating the inbox. Which make me stop using this.
Happy Long-Time User (by Happygirlbrooks on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 02:40:00)
Having the app is a way-smoother operation for Gmail on iPad than just using the Gmail account synch from within the Settings. I have used this app for years and believe Google has done an awesome job at making Gmail highly functional on the Apple platform. Thank you Google from the bottom of my Apple heart!
As expected (by Luminin on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 02:06:00)
Another fine Google product.
Good, could be great (by Elemental P on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 00:10:00)
Better than the native iPad app but my big issues are that I can't pull up email groups and that cut and pasting text changes font size. Fix this, these are pretty basic things.
G Mail (by juanaretire on Tue, 25 Nov 2014 00:01:00)

Love this app, needs Dropbox support! (by Ed.So on Mon, 24 Nov 2014 22:29:00)
Love the interface of this app and it works great for all my needs as a student, however, I use Dropbox as my cloud storage client and would sure love to see you guys allow access to Dropbox to attach files. I know you guys allow Google Drive, but allowing Dropbox also wouldn't be that bad. ☺️ Otherwise, this is still my preferred email client until Inbox gets a couple more updates. Thanks, Gmail team!

Great, just different (by mrs.alcide on Mon, 24 Nov 2014 14:57:00)
I'm back using an iPhone after a brief stint with a Galaxy S4. The Gmail app was smoother (as to be expected). The only thing I don't like is that it defaults to my Promotions folder and not the Primary.
Great alternative! (by BlackAndWhite3 on Mon, 24 Nov 2014 14:45:00)
This is a must for power gmail and google apps for work users. Don't waste your time with iOS mail if you use most/all gmail features.

This has worked and is still! (by Vernl E. on Mon, 24 Nov 2014 10:52:00)
We switched to Gmail many years ago and it continues to work very well for all of our staff. Moving to Apple devices caused me some concern that it might not work as planned but it has been a good transfer of our email system. I can use my mobile phone, tablet, computers, and check in on the road with not problems. Each device has its own look but the messages, email, and documents have worked. I speak often and use Google to store all my presentation while out of my office. Thank You for making this work.

Good app but thinks I'm offline. (by Bugz baby on Mon, 24 Nov 2014 08:30:00)
I like the app and manage my gmail email through it. The only problem I have with it, is that I have to keep restarting the app while trying to clear email because after deleting about 100 or so, it stops loading email saying I'm offline and don't have a connection. Other than that, it's a very good app but this one thing is very aggravating. Please fix.

Gmail interface on iPad is poor (by Pro traveler on Sun, 23 Nov 2014 20:21:00)
Almost no customization is available so if you don't like the inconveniences built into app, you are out of luck. Most recent mail is at bottom of string so lots of scrolling is required to find responses instead of having it served up most recent at top. Separate windows for each component of thread wastes space and requires more scrolling than necessary if efficiency was employed. Dates of messages not obvious until search for them. Error messages confusing and not easy to know how to overcome. Google would do well to simply copy the Thunderbird email of 5 years ago and fire their Gmail programmers. Might get less useless white space but a much better email would be available.

Where is the select all? I like everything else but I sign up for a lot of things and so with that u get junk mail and annoying emails. When it comes time to delete all the messages in the trash I would love a select all or a empty trash can feature instead of having to select one by one. Sometimes I have to go back to the apple mail box bc they do hv a select all. Please add this other than that I like it

I feel like this is still in beta. The app only loads my emails half of the time. Then clicking on an email typically leads me to "no offline mail :( " when I'm on wifi. It's been this way for 4 updates now, and it's definitely the app, not my phone. 4S, running last iOS 7 prior to iOS 8's initial release.

Having my important mail separated from the social and ad mail has been great. Also, I've always liked the ability to archive and keep my inbox clean. My request for change is that you would integrate contacts into this app so I can look up related emails from a specific contact. The Gmail app is my go to app and the most used of all my apps.

passable but nothing really stood out. (by lightstream2009 on Fri, 21 Nov 2014 12:32:00)
This is a nice way of handling Gmail on the iPhone. However, I'm still deciding whether or not I prefer this or the native client. The integration of the native client with all third-party app mail links makes it attractive in comparison as far as convenience. I'm indifferent to the views besides not having to scroll as much. I like the idea of sandboxing my email by keeping it in its own app instead of integrated with the OS and all these other third-party apps. I suppose that would be a benefit for the security conscious.

Not impressed (by Miller7712 on Thu, 20 Nov 2014 19:59:00)
9 times out of 10 my app does not load. Always says an error. I have to delete and readd the app for my email to open. Pretty annoying.
Ok (by wsaabie on Thu, 20 Nov 2014 19:07:00)
Add the ability to change the swipe option from archive to delete. Add option to select from the in app browser to safari. In app browser does not work with all pages that come via email.
It works. (by Zomberex on Thu, 20 Nov 2014 18:28:00)
While Gmail does not work flawlessly, it is the best app you can get for email. I have no problems with it, and find it to be the better of my options. Thank you for this app.

Worked until update (by DOESNT_WORK on Thu, 20 Nov 2014 12:36:00)
This app always worked to push alerts to me when emails came through. Updated the other day and that all stopped. No alerts at all. I am now a sad emailer who needs notifications when new emails come in. Please fix!

Doesn't take advantage of iOS 8. (by k0r3andud3 on Thu, 20 Nov 2014 07:22:00)
It would be nice to have iOS 8 actionable notifications. Current bugs include not capitalizing the first letter of an email and being generally clunky and not fluid. Swipe to back doesn't work and the UI feels dated.

App is crashing and made my phone restart (by TMorss on Thu, 20 Nov 2014 01:44:00)
I have been using this app for a long time. Just recently the app started to struggle opening large email chains. Tonight it crashed 4 times and cause my phone to go to the restart blank screen with the apple logo. Please update google.

Incorrectly handles opening links, breaking emails.
Could be better (by DPfromMD on Thu, 20 Nov 2014 01:01:00)
I wish there was an easier way to "select all" if I want to delete a string of emails. I have to select each one individually. Also it can take a long while for your email to load and then it'll say a connection was lost. This isn't because of my wifi connection, it seems to be the app lagging.
Great (by M.Miller4 on Wed, 19 Nov 2014 22:46:00)
I love this app. It works so much better then any other email app I have used.

Nice App but.... (by Marky0123 on Wed, 19 Nov 2014 12:59:00)
Nice app, but there is a need for a setting option to only fetch email when the app is in use. Personalization would be nice too.

Works fine for me with just a couple hiccups (by T4387 on Wed, 19 Nov 2014 10:46:00)
I really haven't had too many issues with the app with the exception of a couple times when it froze up. I have had Gmail on all my droid phones and Pc's and it's always been great. Plus all the other services/apps Google has now, how can you go wrong. They are definitely on the right path. Give it a try.
Could be much better (by TheTripleX on Wed, 19 Nov 2014 08:07:00)
It looks kinda decent, but other than that it is pretty average. I get notifications and when I open the app the emails are not there. I have to manually refresh. It can be slow. The amount of control over notifications is limited, to either all emails or none. Switching between accounts is difficult on iPhone 6, as the button is in the top left corner of the display. No support for iOS inter-app sharing.

Worth switching (by Jserra on Wed, 19 Nov 2014 05:09:00)
I use it daily and its much better than my yahoo mail app I had, I'm glad I switched. Creating and sending emails is easy and I like the different social and promotion add-on inboxes to keep track of all types of mail incoming.

Can't apply notification sounds or use swipe gestures (by suavevision on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 22:59:00)
Would like to be able to assign my own notification sounds and use swipe gestures to delete emails. Until then, I see no reason to use the gmail app over the iOS email app.
needs work (by Brian Erwin on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 20:03:00)
crashes when opening composite messages.. when you receive numerous replies in a correspondence, Gmail groups them all together, but when I open a correspondence of say, 30 messages, it crashes keeps notifying me that it works better with five accounts.. okay! I saw the message the first time! I'm keeping six accounts! remove that notification.. no need to tell me every time I open the app. there should also be an option to automatically default back to inbox.. if I was simply deleting promotions in one account, then I should be able to go to another account and when I return to the account where I was deleting promotions, it should go to inbox, not back to promotions

One problem is HUGE (by jjsledge on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 18:52:00)
It was a good app. There have been multiple times where I'll have multiple emails in my inbox that i have no clue about. This happens a lot, even though i have it set up to notify me whenever new mail arrives. Fix this Google.
Hate it (by Crystal Gayle on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 17:37:00)
It's hard to find an email and I don't like that I can't change the conversation format
Good app (by thealmityking on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 16:49:00)
I like this better than the mail app that comes with an iOS device. There are some minor issues here and there, but overall it's a good app
PUSH (by Archangel7877 on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 15:49:00)
Can you please add the push availability so I can receive my new mail through Apple's Mail app once I receive an email? I don't understand why other's like hotmail for example, has the ability to do so and GMAIL nor Inbox can. Please update with this option as it should be standard.
Latest version has many bugs (by r8erz on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 14:01:00)
The new version has a network failure almost every time I open it. It come up with an error saying "network not available" and I have to tap "retry". Probably happens 3 out of 5 times when opening the app...
Needs improvement (by Prosop on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 12:40:00)
I can't figure how to increase the font size. Articles attached are often way too small,ie microscopic. That's annoying. And I especially don't care for the bureaucratic-like social/promotions breakdown. Just too obtrusive. Messy. I really dislike this app.
Getting better (by Ana3z0z on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 12:01:00)

Fonts are too small when there are tables in the email (by wzd138 on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 09:11:00)
Overall a good email client, however when it comes to emails with long tables, the email is adapted to fit in the table thus making the words in the email unreadable.
Works good but has some issues (by shadowskater95 on Tue, 18 Nov 2014 03:44:00)
Mostly involving emails that has seconds links. Sometimes they don't open probably or cause the app to crash.

Would be good if signatures worked (by The Sigalert.com Team on Mon, 17 Nov 2014 17:02:00)
This app would be great if it weren't for one giant show stopping bug. When you reply to an email, it doesn't put your signature underneath your reply. Instead, your signature appears uselessly underneath the entire quoted thread. This utterly baffling behavior is also the default in the desktop version, but at least there you can fix it. If you "Google" this issue, you'll find that people have been complaining about it since 2010. That doesn't exactly inspire confidence in Google's responsiveness. If you require signatures to work properly, then this app isn't for you. It's great otherwise.
Solid App, Much Better Than iOS Default (by bostonc322 on Mon, 17 Nov 2014 16:08:00)
For anyone with a Google account, this app is a must. It includes all the features one would expect from a full email client, far moreso than the iOS default. I have all my email addresses forward to my gmail account, so this app essentially replaces any other I would need. I highly recommend it.

Why no phone link? (by Fc95010 on Mon, 17 Nov 2014 15:32:00)
I really like Gmail app on IOS but it's terribly frustrating that I'm not able to press on a phone number in the email and have my phone dial it. Same with dates. In Apple mail I can add a date to my google calendar easily but can't do this in gmail. In many ways gmail app is superior but I have to use apple for ease of use.

Great app, needs improving (by mpaquin01 on Mon, 17 Nov 2014 09:56:00)
The Gmail app has become my primary email application for all my Apple devices (computer, tablet, and phone). The shortfall is that I can't open a file from my iPad and open/transfer it to Office PPT for example, even if it's open in a mail window or on Chrome. Otherwise it's great. I use it to organize my mail and has become my filing system that can be accessed and retrieved from anywhere.
Gmail is g-gone (by Smileesdee on Mon, 17 Nov 2014 08:55:00)
Since the latest update, it won't load new mail, I can only view promotions and updates- no new mail! I've tried to turn it off & back on but i still can't get my mail! I'm super frustrated with it because I have to pull out my laptop to get the mail. This is all on an IPhone. Please fix it!

Very Satisfied (by SouthernSinner82 on Sun, 16 Nov 2014 10:26:00)
I have found Gmail to be very simple to set-up and easy to use. I love that you can sign into most second party apps and accounts thru your Gmail. I dropped my phone recently and completely shattered my screen. Needless to say I had to buy a new phone. Thanks to having had synced my contacts thru my gmail all I had to do was sign into my gmail account on the new phone and it automatically transferred all of my contacts to the phone. Over all I will have to say that I am a very satisfied user of Google Mail.

Gmail is always my first choice for all my email correspondence however the app always seems a little slow when clicking in between links when sifting through emails. Filtering messages to tabs could be improved also as I usually send to a tab and make all following messages go to that tab however they will appear again in incorrect tabs with new mail.

Printing (by Bonami0 on Fri, 14 Nov 2014 17:52:00)
Cant print from app. I tried to print a return label from the app after opening the email i received but it didn't work. It did open amazon.com from the app but would not print. I push print a few times. But nothing. I had to open the site from safari. Please fix this.

I am a Realestate broker so I line in my email every minute, and the way my email performs effects my business a lot. I use gmail app for my business and personal use and I love it and will definitely recommend.
Good app (by Chomp:) on Fri, 14 Nov 2014 14:35:00)
I've been using this app for quite some time and it's definitely been helpful with sending me emails and the folder system is easy to use, so I'm able to separate my emails easily.
Great (by Dominick P on Fri, 14 Nov 2014 14:24:00)
Way better than Apple's app
Awesome (by Kiezein on Fri, 14 Nov 2014 14:19:00)
I use it for my work-related email that I don't want in my mail app. It works very well for this. 4 stars only because it doesn't seem to put meeting invites on my gmail calendar as it does on the regular browser version (desktop). Otherwise, very happy with it.
Need to be able to download my files (by Shasslakaga on Fri, 14 Nov 2014 09:19:00)
Love the app. My only problem with the app is that I cannot download my files. My music files my Excel files. I can only view them. Which pisses me off.
User friendly (by Sarah1383 on Fri, 14 Nov 2014 00:35:00)
Very user friendly and much more akin to GMail on a computer than the regular iPhone mail app is.
Great (by MrTNTMaster1000 on Fri, 14 Nov 2014 00:30:00)
I love it because it actually tells me when I got an email.😃😃😃😃

Never had any issues, still my favorite mail app.
Poor navigation (by Marshall Fender on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 21:18:00)
Seems "Mail-ish", but not as intuitive. Poking around through drop menus trying to be cleverly labeled to be different/new is not my idea of efficiency.
Okay (by TaREE29 on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 20:36:00)
A little slow at times but it's not the worst email app I have used..
Pretty Much the Best Email App (by LongDongAJong on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 19:32:00)
It helps me stay organized with a layout similar to that of any other device. Very clean and smooth feel.

No swipe to go back? Lame. (by Legal.Eagle on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 16:46:00)
Please get with the iOS times and implement the fundamental swipe-to-go-back feature. Also, users should be able to add multiple attachments at once.

Decent but not great (by Funcdeli on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 14:46:00)
Better than before. But gmail is so important to me that any problems with it have huge negative impact on my life and work. Right now notifications are broken for two of my accounts which seemed to happen after I turned sound on for gmail notifications. Ugh.
The only email i use (by BAMiller81 on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 13:18:00)
I love my gmail. Its the only email that I have used in the past few years
Usability issues (by Pfb14 on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 12:12:00)
Swiping a notification of a new primary email opens the primary folder but the new email is not there. You have to leave back to the list of folders and re-enter. Plus there needs to be a way to mark all Social/Updates/promotions as read quickly.
Lagging behind Competition (by Quran Class TV on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 11:07:00)
Although I use this a lot but apps like CloudMagic and other Gmail Clients are doing a much better job. I recommend this to the people because Google is a strong brand who will try to service our problems, if you need more functionalities, then there is better alternative. Try Inbox if you have invites.
Great app! (by j32898 on Thu, 13 Nov 2014 10:48:00)
I love this app so much. It is so easy to access and I can switch from my different email accounts, too. Awesome job.

Issues (by Khylrtgepirate on Wed, 12 Nov 2014 23:42:00)
I can't download my photos I send to myself
Works Fine (by Ejaazi on Wed, 12 Nov 2014 23:40:00)
The only bug I've found is when you go to compose a message, it does auto capitalize the first letter. This needs to be fixed. The workaround for this, is after the subject field is filled in, tap return on the keyboard and the cursor will drop to the compose field and the first letter will auto capitalize. Hopefully google will fix this. Other than that it works fine for me. Notifications are much faster than the native email app. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because the UI could use a little improving. But if you just want a simple email app without all of the bells and whistles, then this one is it.
Smooth (by Rico.sky on Wed, 12 Nov 2014 22:20:00)

Okay but still needs work (by Sig000 on Wed, 12 Nov 2014 21:31:00)
I like all the features in this app however I’d like them more if I could read them. The type is so small in my emails and there’s no way to increase the size other than increasing the size of everything in my iPhone via Accessibility.

Font too tiny (by Parisienne72 on Wed, 12 Nov 2014 16:31:00)
There needs to be a way to easily increase text size in settings for Gmail the way you can increase text size for text messages. I have tried all the forum suggestions for increasing font size on the messages in my email inbox. Nothing works. I even deleted and re-installed the app and if anything, it was worse. I have to turn my iPhone sideways to read messages horizontally. What a bother. They need to fix this issue. Not all users are 16 with perfect vision.
Pretty good but then again... (by khouryh on Wed, 12 Nov 2014 15:55:00)
It's a relatively simple email app with no real additional features. Works perfectly and has no issues whatsoever but I'd expect some additional functionality over setting up gmail on my iPhone. Works fine but nothing special overall. It gets 4 stars for perfect stability but loses 1 star for the lack of anything special :)
Greatness (by Xertiuytastic on Wed, 12 Nov 2014 15:12:00)

Great app along with system only problem I have is when you delete email from one device it should delete on all devices. Example I deleted email on my iPad, but when I check my mail on I phone the mail is still showing up.
Not user friendly :( (by AuntyBee on Wed, 12 Nov 2014 10:29:00)
The app automatically sorts my mail into categories & cannot change these setting. Way too easy to overlook important emails.

My preferred email app (by B.Hultgren on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 23:36:00)
Hi Google, I enjoy your application very much and thank you for developing it. While I am personally more comfortable using outlook on a desktop for work, I still find your product very efficient for checking my personal email from a mobile device. I do have a suggestion. I would like to see an 'open with' functionality with the gmail applications as is available with the native iOS mail application. I understand this may not be your fault and there may be permissions from Apple not relinquished to allow this. Thank you for your hard work. Sincerely, Brandon
Good mail app (by Cybersco on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 23:11:00)

Love this App (by Michelle Prebilic Reese on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 22:50:00)
I've been using it for years. Helpful to be able to work on email on the road. Wish I could clear things off the server from the app.
Better on iPad than PC (by mikeandlucydog on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 22:25:00)
This is a great app, esp. If you use it as stand-alone outside of Chrome like I do on my iPad. Just seems more fluid, less clunky than the PC version which I also use on my desktop. Have not encountered a problem with it yet. Highly recommend.
G mail app. (by Elsieme on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 22:15:00)

Love it (by Ryguy8989 on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 21:51:00)

Huge! More than 4GB! (by _lingo on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 18:36:00)
It seems Gmail app downloads *all* emails for offline browsing on the device. It is ridiculous! I just deleted the app and got more than 4GB back! The least I recommend is putting a cap on this and notify user if you are going to download and take up such a huge amount of space on my device!
Gmail (by Spaceacademy on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 18:33:00)
I think Gmail is an excellent application and I use it every day.
Interface is crowded and unreliable (by SuperShoeDiva on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 18:12:00)
In landscape view this is a crowded mess. I do like the way it organizes multiple accounts but the interface on the left is weird. Messages get marked important, but I don't know why and I can't unmark them. The general "folder" interface makes little sense similar to the web version. This hasn't been updated or rethought in years and could really use a fresh look and interface. You can't zoom in on messages like you can in regular mail on iPhone. The more I use gmail, the more I hate it.
Ads in GMAIL (by BookMage on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 18:11:00)
Are a terrible idea!!!! Why in the world are you making us have to click/delete these stupid ads about ads. This should be an opt in for people who have businesses! I am a long time user but may have to change that.
It keeps crashing! (by Delta Zach on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 15:09:00)
When I open certain Emails, the app just crashes before I can read anything!
Good app for Gmail, links do not open in Safari (by phototristan on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 14:51:00)
This is probably the best app for Gmail because Google APIs integrate with it so it's very fast, faster than any app that would use IMAP. However, any links that you can tap on in any of your emails do not open with Safari which is a real negative. They need to really fix this.
Does what it's supposed to (by Alasko2714 on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 14:12:00)
It's fine. It works. Personally, it's easier to write and read emails on a computer. But it's good if you're out and about and you're waiting for something specific or need to email someone immediately.
Annoying Ads (by Victoria8310 on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 14:02:00)
How can I get rid of these annoying ads at the top. I don't want any fkng ads!!!!!!! -1 rating
Love it! (by FireRed714 on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 14:01:00)
I love the Gmail app. It is so much better than using the standard mail app that came with the iPhone. I wish I would've downloaded it sooner. I love how the important stuff goes in the main box and promotions have a separate box so it's not all jumbled together. I definitely recommend this app to others!
Push notifications?? (by singingirlc on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 12:55:00)
Since the last update to iOS this Gmail app on both phones in my family are no longer pushing new mail notifications. The two phones are not connected in anyway (separate computers and everything) but have the same problem. Might have to go back to the Apple mail app if I'm forced to refresh every time I'm waiting on an email. Please fix this!!!!
Notification problem (by POKERx2 on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 12:48:00)
The Gmail app says I have an unopened email in my primary mailbox. There is a "1" next to it. I deleted every email in that mailbox so there is nothing left and it still has the "1." It is really annoying because I always think I have an email from somebody important. Please fix this glitch! Thankyou

Still not native (by POLARISpro489 on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 10:34:00)
The app is still not 100% native to where it's as usual as the default mail app. I love the push and everything but it's just too slow and buggy to use. :(

An acquired taste, but worth the effort (by RAALee on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 00:12:00)
Having spent years with Outlook Express and Outlook I was forced to move to a web based email platform and took a look at several. Gmail's security (less pernicious crap appearing in your inbox is a real plus) I settled here. It lacks some of the visual flare of some others and the search features are powerful, but a bit dBase geeky. Yet, after sticking with it I have found Gmail stable, capable and evolving with new optional features. It serves my purposes and makes more sense to me (where do I click to reply or cc: something! Uh--OK--over there and down there. Really? All right, fine.) after sticking with it and forcing myself to use it for a while. Last, it runs on and with anything. Not bad.
Satisfied Gmailer! (by Paulabear13 on Tue, 11 Nov 2014 00:12:00)

Better, still not good. (by Chris Kocuba on Mon, 10 Nov 2014 17:25:00)
I look at the ball of folding colors more than I do actually looking at my mail. Sometimes the app updates in a timely manor but most of the time it is the ball of death starring me in the face. The Gmail app used to be great but the last major design has not worked well since day 1.
Got worse (by Annoyedlucy on Mon, 10 Nov 2014 16:43:00)
I have two major problems with this app, one that has always been and one that just started with this update. The new one is that Gmail is failing to capitalize the first word in an email, which is very unprofessional if you don't notice, and who notices? The second is that you can't mark an email as important or not important, so if gmail misclassifies it you're stuck, which can be really annoying. Both easily fixed by updates, but they haven't been.
Still love it (by danni01 on Mon, 10 Nov 2014 15:36:00)
It's better then my mail app. I've heard of issues but I have yet to experience any.

Everything is great (by Cantguarddretime on Mon, 10 Nov 2014 13:53:00)

Almost great... (by jamestristanredding on Sat, 08 Nov 2014 18:57:00)
Okay. So it’s very fast — but it’s difficult to scroll down through older messages without opening them. I also had trouble saving a draft. That said, I love that archiving a message I’ve just read returns me to the inbox, rather than to the next OR previous message, as my iPhone’s proprietary mail application does (seemingly without rhyme or reason). I’m finding it very useful to have both apps available and handy, especially to look up multiple recipients or copy and paste photos or text from one message into another. All in all, it’s sort of a duplicate app for me — but I’m glad to have it.

I love gmail. Really easy to navigate. You can make files to put your important email in that you can name. Then is easy to get to. Easy deletion of all your mail. Easy to get to from any search engine (Google, Bing, etc). I am so happy I switched from AOL. Always had problems with getting hacked with them. Have NEVER gotten hacked with gmail. And I've used it since 2011.

Not Happy With It (by Sallyanne228 on Sat, 08 Nov 2014 13:43:00)
I don't know what their system has done but suddenly I no longer get daily emails I used to look forward to. I didn't always have time to read them but always scanned them to see if they were of interest. Recently I was expecting something and looked in my spam account and there were all of my usual emails. I don't know how to change settings so they will no longer filter these emails. I think they have made this very complicated when they tried to simplify it. Very disappointed.

Great app (by Ranrise on Fri, 07 Nov 2014 19:56:00)
Why I took one star is that this app opens all links in chrome instead of safari. I really would rather sync gmail with iOS mail app but Google wouldn't allow push notification anymore. It's a pity consumers have to suffer for the feud between Google and Apple

Too many bugs! (by Mimilocation on Fri, 07 Nov 2014 17:48:00)
Since the last OS upgrade, I am consistently having several problems with this app. First, when you open a new note ("Compose") the first letter in the body is not capitalized. No major thing and easy to fix but why should we have to do that when every other version it has been correctly capitalizing the first word. Second and much more profound is my inability to be able to scroll within a thread of messages. This is not a problem all the time but it is frequent enough to make me close the app and head for a computer which is often hours later and my correspondence delayed. If that is the case, who needs an app?! Third, I cannot reply to just one person in the middle of the thread as I can on a computer. The little "reply" arrow is there tantalizing me, but it NEVER works. I have to scroll to the bottom of the thread (often impossible bec of the second item here above) and then I can only reply to whoever most recently answered within the thread or to all. The result is that I have to go find a computer again. If this is intended, please take the reply arrow off each message. The last thing I find frustrating is that when I cut and paste something in the body, it changes the font size. I don't always initially write things in the right order and often resort the sequence of thoughts. I think if this as the fundamental difference between a computer/software and an old school typewriter. So congratulations: you have set us back decades.

Good. Does what needs to be done for users. (by Rojudo on Fri, 07 Nov 2014 07:53:00)
Overall, this is a good mobile app for Gmail. It does everything you need on a normal desktop. The only area that I encounter a lot and would suggest they allow this feature is when trying to label an email, they come up with a whole list of labels, which is fine if you only have a few labels. I don't. I have hundreds. So, I would like a feature where you can search for the label by typing in; not just having to scroll. The search feature is available on the desktop but not the mobile version. Other than that, great app and does what it needs to be done.

The Gmail mobile site works better than the Gmail app. Seriously. (by -_name_taken_- on Fri, 07 Nov 2014 01:46:00)
I used this app for years and was always mildly frustrated that new emails would show up in my notification center but upon opening Gmail to read them, I would have to wait to read them, and sometimes they wouldn't load at all. I started using the gmail site in Chrome yesterday and - Lo and behold - no lag at all! It works great, even, better than the gmail app. Loads faster, all of the same features are there. Deleted, only thing the web version seems to be missing is notifications, which I guess I can live without.
Every new change in GMAIL made it more frustrating (by Consider this on Fri, 07 Nov 2014 01:06:00)
About 2-3 years ago, Google changed how your contacts are displayed when sending emails. Previously, when I started entering a contact's email address, all my contacts starting with (for example) an "A" would be listed in a scroll down list. Now, when I type "A" for a contact, only 3-4 names show up. I might not be explaining this well enough, but it is much more work. For a while, there were no images in my emails. Makes shopping more difficult. Now images seem to have returned. Who knows what to expect next.

Not on caps for default (by Madre Myers on Thu, 06 Nov 2014 19:56:00)
I use this app a lot, and have learned how to just deal with most issues. The one that should be an easy fix is not getting a capital letter to begin a new email. I think this only came about from the most recent upgrade. I hit return after putting in a subject, then start typing. I always have to go back to make it a capital. The default should be a capital.

Close but not perfect (by Quadtrack0 on Thu, 06 Nov 2014 01:59:00)
I use both the Gmail app and my iPhone's included email app for my companies exchange email. The exchange email is still better with the ability to swipe and choose between three actions quickly. Also, at times I have noticed lag (up to an hour) between the app showing that I have read an email and the email on Chrome on my laptop showing it had been read. This led to sometimes replying to messages twice for work. It works but could use some refinement.

Love Gmail, but the app still has long way to go (by HelenWB on Wed, 05 Nov 2014 23:52:00)
Had issue of refreshing page and email would not come up. It is very obvious when I switch from Wifi to 4g or vice versa.
Not good (by Cdema on Wed, 05 Nov 2014 19:17:00)
Yes, it provides push email, but other than that l, it's terrible. It integrates poorly with iOS and offers zero customization (like swipe options, for example). Overalls, the native iOS mail client is much better, except that it's not push. Why can't one of these companies get it right??
Pretty dam convenient! Poor humans :-/ (by Durty dusty on Wed, 05 Nov 2014 18:53:00)
In a way, this app is very good/best/all the above. Flip side to coin?? We keep making things easier and easier to use, well then we just become lazier and lazier :-) I give it 20 years, everything we create will then be telling US what to do! Yeeeaaaa buddy!! Fuggin technology right!!?....... Oh, but still needs touch ups.... The app I mean....
The loading dot is colorful. (by Enekororo on Wed, 05 Nov 2014 18:29:00)

Custom notification sound (by palchyk on Wed, 05 Nov 2014 18:26:00)
If you stop supporting push notifications for native iOS mail app with the Exchange Account, and you want people to use your exclusive application, then make at least half of the functions that are present in the native iOS app! Because with this app I can't do anything. I can't even simply change the notification sound to hear important messages like in any other mail app. When you could use the native app with push notifications that was super convenient and now with the time it's just worse and worse.
Stale, outdated, no swiping! (by SideShowJohn on Wed, 05 Nov 2014 15:46:00)
This App needs to be updated with swiping gestures. I'm not understanding why the new App (Inbox) is getting the love and not the Gmail App. The App performs fine otherwise, and excels at rendering emails properly, especially calendar invites. I want the swiping of Inbox incorporated in Gmail

How to search emails with a keyword in subject? (by Qian Tao on Wed, 05 Nov 2014 09:50:00)
I somehow never succeeded doing this, even in the first page of my gmail app, there is one email that should be in the search result list. I tried the intuitive way: input the keyword in the search box. Then I tried something more: input subject:keyword. Nothing works.

Not very good (by Shanna1978 on Wed, 05 Nov 2014 02:11:00)
Sure it lets me read my email but the lack of a delete feature is crummy. What is archive? Maybe a fancy word for delete? And it takes FOREVER to "archive" my emails I might as well use my computer!

Much better (by Sgrunwald on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 14:59:00)
Google has been some great changes on improving this app. Push notifications and the consistency with their desktop version.

Excellent (by Logan Mungal on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 14:37:00)
The fact that I just waited 30 seconds for this review page to load truly shows how good this app is. But in all seriousness, this app is great.
Great App (by A.F.Abu on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 13:18:00)
Nice UI, sleek appearance!
Good, but... (by User1216 on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 13:03:00)
The only thing that would make it better for me is if there was an actual app for Mac computers from Google. Otherwise, I'm content with this app.
Needs Work (by Tammij6818 on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 12:48:00)
I have always been a fan of the Google platform but the email app needs work. Why can't I swipe to the right and get the option to delete emails. When there are a series on email why do you have to go to the bottom of the email for the most current email. I may have to use use the mail app that came with my iPhone. Please update the app and make some improvement
Gmail (by Shortness20 on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 12:44:00)
I enjoy this app because I still get my gmail easily on my phone and I don't have to wait until I get home to my computer 😀

Easy to use, sorts out junk vs. personal mail.
You're getting there gmail (by MeatJuiceSupreme on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 11:32:00)
The more I use this app the more I wish it to be better. I like the fluid way it moves between my folders but the sync with Chrome is clonky. When I do use a hyperlink it doesn't give an option to choose which browser. Other than that, cool.
Slower than the iOS Mail app (by davidyoon on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 11:07:00)
Good functionality, but the Gmail app is slow. I prefer to use the iOS Mail app because it is faster.
Stupid app (by Timothy Wadsworth on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 03:07:00)
It will never work for a college email weather if it's a gmail college email address. So stupid. College students. Never use this app for your college stuff on your phone.
Great (by D-Banz on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 01:18:00)
It's good because the regular mail for Apple would not sync with my gmail and this is just so much more accessible there is just so much more you can do with this email

Good but could be better (by Eric Jones on Sun, 02 Nov 2014 00:13:00)
I love gmail as a whole but the app still had some work to do. The main thing I love about Gmail is the ability to send and receive emails from pop3 and IMAP accounts. I was using it to host all my work email but I hate that on the app your signature still is at the very bottom of the thread instead of the email itself. On the web I hate that you can't make it a push account.
Love this app. (by SwimboyGerard on Sat, 01 Nov 2014 23:48:00)
Checking emails has never been easier. I used to allow my emails to accumulate to hundreds upon hundreds of emails before checking, but with this app I can check them as soon as they arrive. Has made life a whole lot easier for me.
Snailmail is better, can't hold connection (by TheSharkbite1 on Sat, 01 Nov 2014 21:02:00)
If you have to delete more than 5 emails, the drops connection and can only say "oops, you lost your internet" when really the app lost its mind considering every other app has Internet
Great! (by Ademir Hernandez on Sat, 01 Nov 2014 18:57:00)
Enjoy it, easy to use.
New update causes crashes! (by Jfc I'm annoyed by this on Sat, 01 Nov 2014 18:24:00)
The gmail app worked well before I downloaded the most recent update, and now it often crashes before I can send or finish writing an email, and when it crashes the email is not even saved as a draft, it's completely gone and I have to rewrite it trying to do it as fast as I can as to send it before the app crashes again!! The app has always been a little slow but I didn't mind, although with this new problem I'm extremely frustrated

Could be better. (by noblesseoblige on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 18:19:00)
There are lots of things wrong with this app, but the chief among them is the fact that it often just doesn't show my mail. Even though every other app is working fine (including the native mail app) the Gmail app won't open my mail.
I don't know what y'all did but I love this app now! (by GrannyZink on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 18:19:00)
I had this app when I first got my iPad in 2012. I didn't like it at all. Now it could be that I've changed what I want/like but either way, I love it now 😃. Thanks everyone who makes this a great app!

Scrolling broke with update (by mechapreneur on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 17:00:00)
Version 3.1415926 broke vertical scroll on my iPad running iOS 7.1.2. Everything else still works. But now I cannot scroll my inbox, nor scroll to read long messages. I used to love this app, now I cannot read email with Gmail on my iPad at all.
Great app! (by 2bec on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 13:52:00)
It's unbelievable the amount of things that you can do with this app. Just try it for yourself.
Not good (by Asdfghjklhdtkvg on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 12:03:00)

Holy security flaw batman! (by davidemartindale on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 11:01:00)
Seriously? I can't turn off message preview on my notifications? Shockingly poor privacy protection. I wouldn't expect such a huge security hole from Google. Instant uninstall.

Good and simple thank's
Frustrating (by Seaglass987 on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 03:04:00)
It was great, but recently the app has been extremely irritating and glitchy. Every time I try to open it, it crashes and sends the last email I sent twice, AGAIN. It's rather embarrassing to waste other's time on spam as well as very frustrating. Recently, I can't even open my app even with internet access, and it takes over 5 minutes just to send an email. Only thing it's good for is notifying you, and even that is glitchy. Just use the desktop version. Not worth it.
The gmail we love (by Scarboroughfamily on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 02:30:00)
Thanks for the iPhone 6 update. Another great update would include the ability to turn off "show preview" for emails. I'd like to make my device more secure from people seeing my email content in notifications when my phone is locked but still have a blank notification for gmail. A Mac app with handoff support would be amazing!!! Thanks!!
Horrible (by Msjsjjsjsj on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 02:03:00)
I tried to log in with this. Failed altogether.
Works great (by Alim1 on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 01:20:00)
Love this app. It does exactly what I want it to do with very few issues, if any.
Good for Work Email (by Kakahrot on Fri, 31 Oct 2014 00:30:00)
I use it to separate my personal and work email. Works well UI updates are good but loads slowly. Adding the multiple Gmail account management is perfect. I can turn on and off various accounts with ease.
Almost perfect (by Entelech3 on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 23:53:00)
It's great overall. The only issue I have is in opening attachments. I should be able to open files in the correct app directly from Gmail, instead of having to first open the file in Safari, and then opening in the correct app. Get that fixed and this is the perfect email app as far as I'm concerned.
Great (by Weixiang Li on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 23:49:00)
There is no delay in getting emails!!! You can link multiple gmail with this app! Never fail me!
Dodgy Piece of Software (by buggsy2 on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 22:31:00)
Loads slowly and often fails to load. Way worse than Apple's native email app.
Better than the Apple Mail app (by Killacamm199 on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 22:30:00)
I downloaded this app because the Mail app predownloaded to my iPhone is horrible. This app is so much better and actually sends me a notification when I get an email.

Love gmail (by Jmariemedina90 on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 17:54:00)
I'll take this app over the original iPhone mail app anyday.
Good app, but some issues (by Disutile on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 17:46:00)
I like using this app for my email since it acts more like Gmail does when I'm online on my laptop. I do not like, however, how it uses my address book for addresses. I suddenly found many duplicate entries for people, the second with only the email address. It appears that this app added these contacts. I would like to see this app use only existing information from the Address Book, and be able to search what's already there for that information, rather than setting up duplicate information for many contacts.
Selfish push notif support, and bad overall feel (by KingArthurVI on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 16:45:00)
The app itself has push notif which is really the only reason I'm using it, since Google disabled push for other 3rd party apps like the native iOS app etc so they can only fetch every 15 minutes or so. Unified inboxes is also one of the most requested features but haven't been implemented after such a long time. The iOS native "go back one page by swiping from the far left" feature was also disabled or not enabled for some reason. Also, the app doesn't support other mail services as of now. One more thing I realize is that the app feels like a web app in a mobile browser and it doesn't feel as smooth and fluid as other iOS apps. If those issues are rectified I would pick this over other mail apps anytime any day.
Gmail - email from Google Review from 901th to 950th
Font too small (by Jykleo on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 16:41:00)
Not only font size is too small but also font weight(color) is too light. Using iPhone6+ means big screen but app's font is too small.
Tech operations (by cranky166 on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 15:35:00)
Excellent email, gmail has the best email junk filtering. I love it!. Also you have a secure connection like banks and financial institutions.

Great program. Very user friendly and moves like the speed of lightening.
Effective and efficient (by Busybiz52 on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 14:59:00)
Overall great app to get the job done. I love because it is great at managing even if you have more than one gmail account. For example, I have both my personal account and my professional account logged in at the same time, and I receive emails from both as soon as I get them.
Works great!! Way better than the general email app on the iPhone (by I.y.a.a.y.a.s on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 14:09:00)
This is much easier to manage your mail than the standard iPhone email app. I hated having to select the message then click more options just to delete.
Works great for what I need (by Ashley Stewart on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 13:07:00)
Has more functionality and versatility than the native iOS mail client.
Best choice for Gmail users (by William Porter on Thu, 30 Oct 2014 12:38:00)
Google's own Gmail for iOS app is your best choice on the iPad or iPhone for getting your Google mail. It provides all the basic features you need: for example you can connect to multiple accounts, search your mail, see conversations in threads just like in your browser (or in Mailplane 3 on your Mac), attach photos, star messages, etc. And unlike Apple Mail or Mailbox, the Gmail app uses labels as Google intended and doesn't add a whole slew of labels of its own in order to simulate folders. I give it 4 stars rather than five because I do hope for some improvements in future. I'd like to be able to apply basic text formatting, for one thing. I'd also love to have the Undo Send feature implemented . Still, it's a very good app now.

GMail App Rocks! (by NM Ranch Girl on Wed, 29 Oct 2014 14:23:00)
I love GMail, & the iOS app makes it easy to read my email on the go.
Good for nothing except push notifications (by Perfectionist52 on Wed, 29 Oct 2014 14:11:00)
Its crap. I don't like the app at all. Tap on a notification and all you see is a stupid colour changing sphere. The app fails with network issue error most of the time even with excellent connection. Its unreliable for people using emails for critical business work.
Not intuitive; Poor documentation (by GXH020 on Wed, 29 Oct 2014 10:46:00)
Many features on gmail that are easy to find and use in the desktop version disappear in the app. The help function consists of s sell brochure and a forum. Extremely frustrating if you have experience with more intuitive email providers.
THE Best email app! (by SeaKaySea on Wed, 29 Oct 2014 10:24:00)
Even though I'm a long time iPhone user I preferred to use Google's apps. I think they are the easiest to use with many enhanced features that Google continues to add to. It certainly was and is the right environment for me.
Buggy, Unstable, Unreliable (by DanShfnr on Wed, 29 Oct 2014 02:23:00)
It crashes when I try to import more than 3 pictures from my phone. It looses attachments. Emails that are saved in Drafts loose their attachments making the emails useless. It also happens in Safari, so maybe it's more a deficiency with all of Google and not just this buggy app. Pay attention Google, your stuff is not ready for prime time, as big as you are. Hubris abounds.
Best email application (by Gbh1125 on Wed, 29 Oct 2014 01:38:00)
Hands down the best email for phone or computer email.

Clean aesthetics (by Stewart Heatwole on Tue, 28 Oct 2014 18:41:00)
It is a clean fast app. The layout is pleasing to the eye and intuitive. The only critique is that it is a bit cumbersome when trying to move a message to a folder when the message is open.

Now leedle ads are littering my incoming. Meh… Going back to private domain/default mail.app/spamassassin. Can’t print emails without setting up a “Google Cloud Printer”. Contacts Sync fails. Mail item select *without* mail item open fails. Thread item separation fails. Granular user settings not available. Flunk.

Gmail is an absolute tool that impacts my ministry tremendously. I would be lost without...
Interface is crowded and unreliable (by SuperShoeDiva on Tue, 28 Oct 2014 14:43:00)

Unreliable, Erases Drafts When You Hit 'Save' & More Delights! (by Shmaps319 on Tue, 28 Oct 2014 07:15:00)
I've had this app for months and have had to delete and then re-download it over half a dozen times. I have written several long, important messages that I tried to save as a draft (the app gives you the option of discarding or saving it). On several occasions, I click 'save' and when I go to find the email in my Drafts folder, it is gone, gone from all Gmail- not sent, not trashed...GONE. In addition to that nightmare, once signed into the app, it has the tendency to: Crash Sign you out while you are checking/composing emails Resend the same email several times Not update properly (an email sent to you with a timestamp of Noon showing up closer to 2pm) My advice? Stick with the old fashioned mobile version on Safari (we won't discuss Chrome here) and save yourself a lot of time and unnecessary frustration.

I don't know the exact reason why but I like the look and feel of this app on my IPad as opposed to using the standard IPad email. I find that the my mail is much more organized my work flow seems to be more like a work flow vs the organized mess that I have been living with. Keep up the great work Google and I look forward to see all the great ideas that you all produce.
Not Enough (by Archphoto on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 20:39:00)
It works for basics but very weak considering its Google!
MA, CHT (by Patty Cooper on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 20:01:00)
Excellent program only addition I would make is to make the archive more accessible and allow easy multiple delete of junk mail
Love it! (by My Maps User on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 18:35:00)

Better than mail (by leoleez on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 18:07:00)
Better than the mail app for google features.
GreAt app (by 3macbro on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 17:53:00)
Really good for school email s that are under the gmail server.
Better than regular Mail App (by Codi87lee on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 16:06:00)
I prefer the Gmail app to the basic Mail app that comes on the phone.
Best (by ElD00derin0 on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 14:28:00)
I got really fed up with the standard Mail client on my iPhone and iPad. This app is much easier to use and has more capabilities than the standard Mail from Apple.
Solid (by J Ewing on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 12:33:00)
Use it 99% of the time w no issues
Easier set-up than iOS mail app (by MattMc318 on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 11:28:00)
It does everything I want it to do: keeps inbox updated up to the second, helps me manage important (starred) emails, and makes it easy to compose new messages. No issues whatsoever.

Google Gmail work great For me iPhone 5s fast EZ Great app
Great email app (by lcmullin on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 09:16:00)
There are a couple of things that needed to be added. First there should be a way to swipe messages to delete them. Secondly for junk mail there should be a delete all. Then I suppose I could up the rating. I understand that the new Inbox makes this app run better. Of course you can download Inbox but can't run without an invite. Stupid method of releasing an app.
Bulky and cheap (by carbonr on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 05:51:00)
I use it only because push alert disabled on other apps. Bulky and bad html formatting. Do better!
Could improve (by Michael Choquer on Mon, 27 Oct 2014 04:55:00)
Simple design, but some options like clearing all messages in the trash are either not accessible or hard to find.
Great for multiple accounts (by ScottFromAtl on Sun, 26 Oct 2014 23:32:00)
Best app I have seen for switching easily between multiple gmails

Excellent replacement for the stock iOS Mail app (by Garett Meyer on Sun, 26 Oct 2014 03:39:00)
This is a great substitute for the stock 'Mail' app, it places your emails into designated folders for spam, promotions, and your actual important emails. It runs clean, and works like it's supposed to.
Good features (by Conejo101 on Sun, 26 Oct 2014 03:30:00)
Works fast, email search is powerful, shows folders easily and quickly
Love it! (by Gmail4ever on Sun, 26 Oct 2014 02:56:00)
Easy to use! Love that it separates emails into categories!
Nice app! (by Jarowh on Sun, 26 Oct 2014 02:27:00)
Was not that big of a fan of using an alternative app for push gmail. However, Google did a nice job reworking this and I honestly have no complaints.
Picture sending issues (by Zarrinam on Sun, 26 Oct 2014 00:57:00)
Good app. I wish I could send more than one pic at the same time. Attaching the pictures one by one it is just annoying. Please fix it.
It's not a bad app (by Lord of iCloud on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 23:56:00)
It's not a bad app for people who have a gmail account and use it as a regular email account. It has a nice interface, and syncs well with the gmail website on your computer or other device. It supports opening links to Chrome and opening maps to google maps, so if you abhor the default apple apps, this is kind of nice. That being said, I'm not sure it's actually any better than the default mail app that apple provides. The main advantage is that this app has faster downloads of emails do it, so you'll get notifications sooner. I really wish this app had support for iOS 8's actionable notifications. I also wish this app had more modern swiping gestures like Mailbox by Dropbox has.
Great App (by Jeffrey Dunn on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 23:47:00)
I've never rated an app before but the Gmail app has in creased my productivity in so many ways. It's great.
Good and frustrating (by Mezzz2908 on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 21:18:00)
Gmail app syncs well across different devices. I haven't found a way to select all to empty my trash or spam folder. I like the different tabs so I don't have to look at all categories mixed together. But I have to go to the website on my laptop to clean out folders without having to select each individual email.

It is a great easy to use app
Typing an email is not starting capitalized. (by Lefty_86 on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 16:27:00)
The first word in the email body is lowercase and the auto correct is not working on misspelled words.
Disappointed! (by Donnabosskaty on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 15:10:00)
Do not like the new format! Takes too much time to find and take care of email. Need a delete all for trash!
Saved my butt (by gvanwa on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 14:51:00)
Apple's recent "upgrade" of iCloud broke my ability to collaborate, and left me without a reliable email service. Desperate, I installed this app and created a Google account. It's flawless and has much better functionality than anything I've used before. Google products on iPhone and iPad are the best of all possible worlds.
The standard (by Brenda Boggs on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 14:21:00)
The standard by which email apps will be judged. Good integration with other Google apps. Works great.
Great search (by toocoolracing on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 13:08:00)
So the primary reason I like and use G-Mail and its app is that the search function works fantastic. I vaguely recall or need to find an e-mail even from years ago and the search is fast, accurate, intuitive and gives me confidence that it found everything there is to be found. On a day-to-day basis I prefer Apple Mail with its integration, intuitiveness, ease of use especially with attachments but Apple's search function totally blows and I have no confidence in it at all, it's slow as hell and, again, I have no confidence in the results. Mentioning Apple Mail as a frame of reference and comparison.
Impressed (by Quietbay on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 12:29:00)
Like it very much. Still learning.
Amazing (by Deja Vu You on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 11:42:00)
This app is a million time better than the default Apple mail and I recommend it to anyone
Very happy with Google (by BreDav on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 11:35:00)
I am very happy with Google Mail. Not so happy with IPhone's.
My opinion about gmail on iPhone (by Muhammad316 on Sat, 25 Oct 2014 09:17:00)
iPhone made everything easier to use, such as gmail, simple, easy and useful. It's already improved
